Taint My Love

Slightly controversial title for the blog considering its Valentine's day! 14th February. In Exactly 9 months it'll be Children's Day (14th November). What are the odds of that!!

I for one, thought (sometimes still do) that I'm one of those guys who would fall in love with a girl I would meet in the place I least expected and we would quarrel annoyingly ever after. But alas that wasn't meant to be! Its been anything but that!

When you break it down to the 0's and 1's (geek talk!!) its all about pro-creation! Its about chemistry and its about marking your territory. Man hasn't changed that much from the times when he communicated in grunts and groans (not the grunts and groans you're thinking about you perverts!). He still, deep down follows the same old laws of survival and social belonging.

Now here's where the "tainting" comes in.

1. Man by nature is not a monogamous creature. He needs to spread his seed around. Some men can fight that urge, but a lot of men eventually become horticulturists cultivating multiple gardens of life.

2. When a man is single, he craves companionship and when he has a companion he craves solitude. So its more like, the grass is greener when you smoke it cause there is no other side!

3. And finally, is there any love to taint at all? We talk about the greatest love stories of all time, and it all comes down to a man and a woman fighting to be together. I don't think I have heard of a successful "famous" relationship wherein the man and the woman never consummated their relationship! So they either mated or they died trying!!!

So if thats the meaning of this enigmatic 4-lettered word (amazing how another 4-lettered word, albeit a little crude, expresses that very sentiment without the layers of abstraction), then I think I wanna fall in love everyday OR do I??

G-man, you sure have figured it all. I admire how you manage to enumerate all your thoughts with bullet points 1, 2, 3... Though if you were a geek in the true sense of the word, it would be 0, 1, 2 or maybe 0, 1, 10... :)

Naah...I know on this one you disagree with me Sid :-)!

Regarding the bullet points, well
1. The point gets across better
2. Its better visibility
3. Its clarity of thought

Oops! I did it again!

Well my thoughts are -

Is it all about chemistry - if yes, then why does it disappear and all thats left are arguements. Why cant ppl be frenz and still share that chemistry. If am not wrong the popular belief is - you love a person, set them free, if they are your's, they'll eventually come back else were never yours . Is that really true - I dont think so - if true wouldn't people be willing to accept the existence of chemistry and be ready to leave when it goes away rather than fight? - or if people believe in eternal love - should it go away in the first place?

hmmm...firstly, nothing's eternal. Secondly, everything has to be worked upon. In this day and age, simplicity and piousness are very tough to find. Every emotion is tainted and so the outcome will be tainted too! But optimism isn't dead and so we have to work towards the light at the end of the tunnel and pray that it isn't a freight train coming through (Metallica Rocks!!)!

Whats with every emotion being tainted and the hype around it?? I have to disagree on that... there might be temptations, but I still think you will stop short before you step out of monogamy... because you realize the importance of what you have is more than the excitement of a new adventure or territory!

Yes, it is about chemistry, but one cant sustain anything for long on chemistry alone! And love.... cant say, cant tell......but I feel that for the most part of it, things are great...... its only when the going gets tough, if you have someone by your side, thats love.... if not, then it never was in the first place! Despite the share of heart aches and breaks we all have had, I still want to believe that someday we all will meet the person we want to spend the rest of our lives with, and when you do, you cant wait for it to start! :-)

Its all about perspectives isn't it? You make yourself believe that this is the one for you! I think the most common confusion is between companionship and "love". I think there is nothing like love. Its just a superlative emotion that you use to express that you want a companion for life. Yes there are times when you want to embark upon that journey which takes you through the clouds and the stars, but...then you wake up!

One day when I was walking through the garden, I meandered past the tree of life, I was mesmerized by the flower Rose. The poor dark rose had suffered lack of proper care, resulting in an inert outer shell. I took great care removing petals scarred from winter's callous touch and was amazed to see inside the tantalizing dew covered flower open fore my eyes.

When we are taken care by a Friend, we also become most opportune of all. But soon Earth itself begins to shake! The closest of our friends becomes a gruff Enemy! People behave as if they never know. Do you ever think its possible to get a pious friend for life? Is it possible to trust anyone in this era? Or everthing is just about compromising and sacrificing or abide whatever fate has planned for us, for having a healthy relationship !!!

Thats why I said, its all about how you would like to make-believe what "love" is all about!

It might be something you feel, or you think you feel, or hope to feel someday. And you might even convince yourself into believing that you DO feel that!

But its not a consistent feeling. It changes! We all will find someone eventually who in this society we call a "spouse", but that has very little bearing on the concept of "eternal" love.

At a Hindu wedding, we are meant to take 7 circles around an open pious flame, which basically signifies that we are bound for 7 lives! And then to contradict that we have arranged marriages! Amazing!!

hehehe......... I like where this discussion is heading!

Well, "arranged" again depends if you are black-mailed into it by your folks or if they just introduce you to ppl whom u might be interested in dating......and eventually end up with. Of curz the dating phase is very short though... which kind of sucks!

Anyhow, yes, I dont think that the feeling of love is consistent.... but isnt that how everything in life is? You cant be perky and bubbly all day or everyday! However, if for most of the time you are cheerful, ppl think you of you that way... and so I think that applies to our relationships as well! AMEN!

Since you said Amen! I won't prolong the comments!!
